What's it like to be a Border Force Officer?
Border Force Officers manage the security and integrity of Australia’s borders by patrolling air space, seaports, mail and cargo centres, and remote locations.
Tasks and duties
- Checking passengers and crew before authorising their entry into Australia.
- Inspecting international mail, passenger luggage, cargo and aircraft to ensure that no prohibited, quarantined or dutiable goods are brought in illegally.
- Performing specialised investigations, compliance and immigration detention operations.
Border Force Officers are an important part of Australia’s law enforcement agency and this position suits individuals with high integrity and diligence who are willing to carry and use personal defence equipment (such as a firearm) if required. Border Force Officers need to actively participate in career management, which means they may be deployed at short notice to a range of postings.
